Samsung SGH P900 in Europe - Want to watch TV?
Samsung just announced the SGH-P900 T-DMB handset. Yeah, it may just be a tweaked SCH-B250, but this pup represents their inaugural push into what is expected to be a booming handheld digital TV market in Europe.
Samsung decided that it was about time for Europe to get a cellphone featuring T-DMB - Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting - and so, the SGH P900 cellphone is here to pleasure you and your TV needs.
You could probably be looking at the hottest gadget to hit Europe in a long long time. It’s Samsung’s gorgeous Samsung SGH-P900 Digital Media Broadcast (DMB) phone with support for Electronic Program Guide (EPG). It’s based on Korean DMB technology that has been adapted to the European broadcast standards.
Gearing up for the 3GSM World Congress later this month in Barcelona, Samsung has announced a handset that features a host of TV features, further blurring the lines between modes of communication.
It doesn’t make coffee or sugar, but it well certainly make you feel good because you’ll be watching TV in a cellphone, or you can listen to radio if you like. Here are plenty of specs, and other good features:

The highlight of the SGH-P900 is the big horizontal view mode. That should make watching David Beckham’s curling free-kicks a treat to watch when you are on the move. You can even record broadcasts for later viewing or else view it on the nearest television set via the TV-out port on the phone. It comes with 100Mb of internal memory, with expansion possible through an external micro-SD slot. Interactive data services are possible as well.
This tri-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE handset throws down a swivelling, 2.2-inch 240×330 262K color LCD display and features a 2 megapixel shooter, Bluetooth, and MPEG-4 video and MP3/AAC audio player. And not only can you view that sweet, sweet digital teevee son, but you can also look up programs on an included EPG and then record to the 128MB of internal memory or microSD expansion for later playback via that TV-out jack. Expect the SGH-P900 to start shipping Q2 nought-six just in time for the World Cup of what the rest-of-the-world-calls “football.”
The cover of the phone flips up and into a rotating TV viewer, which offers reception in a landscape view, an electronic program guide, and even the ability to record. Taking your TV with you was never so easy! Storage options include 100MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card. (The phone also has a rather ordinary-sounding feature called a camera.)
Lee Ki-Tae, president of Samsung’s Telecommunications Network Business, comments: “The 2006 World Cup Germany will be a breakthrough for the world’s DMB phone market to speed up growth.”
